Name: Sierra Hull
Date: July 21, 2019
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
An exceptionally gifted mandolin player as well as a rapidly emerging singer-songwriter, Sierra Hull has taken the bluegrass and country world by storm. Considered one of the leading lights of roots music, her recently released Weighted Mind only confirms her gigantic talent and appeal.

Hull came to us as a bluegrass thrush, a teen prodigy. Krauss called her to the Grand Ole Opry stage when Hull was 11-years-old. Two years later, she signed with Rounder Records, and soon became known as a remarkable mandolin player, a tone-true vocalist, and a recording artist of high order. In 2008, Hull saw Rounder issue her first album for the label, Secrets, which was co-produced by Krauss and Ron Block. As she matured, Hull put greater focus on her songwriting, and authored seven of the 12 songs on her 2011 sophomore release, Daybreak. She’s played the White House, and Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center, and she became the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship at the Berklee College of Music.

Hull’s third solo album, Weighted Mind, produced by Béla Fleck and featuring guest appearances from Alison Krauss, Ethan Jodziewicz, Abigail Washburn, and Rhiannon Giddens, was released in late January 2016. The album was well-received, and was nominated for a Grammy Award as well as the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Album of the Year prize. The IBMA named Hull Mandolin Player of the Year in 2016, and she received the honor again in 2017.
